ARVO's members include nearly 11,900 eye and vision researchers. About 55% reside in the ; the other 45% are from more than 75 countries around the world. The membership is multidisciplinary and is about evenly split between clinical and basic researchers (approximately 37% MD/ophthalmologists, 27% PhDs, and the other 36% include optometrists, osteopaths and veterinarians).
