St Matthews Episcopal Church

Welcome to St. Matthew's! Located in St. Paul's picturesque St. Anthony Park neighborhood, St. Matthew's is a church that will speak to your mind, your heart and your senses.

Worship is at 10:30 am and 5:30 pm on Sunday
A Drop In Dinner is helped after the Evening Service at 6:30 pm
A Simple service of Holy Eucharist is held every Wednesday at 12 pm
Followed by a simple lunch

We are an Episcopal Church that blends the traditional and the contemporary. We are located in a lovely old building that has modern amenities. Our worship draws not only from traditional Episcopal liturgies, but also from liturgies used in other parts of the world. We are medium-sized, meaning that we are large enough to sustain vital programs, but small enough that you can still get to know most of the people in the congregation. We include a broad mix of young and old, families and singles, from a wide variety of backgrounds.

While St. Matthew's may seem like several other churches in the Twin Cities area, we are particularly characterized by:

* A DESIRE TO GO DEEPER SPIRITUALLY. People who are drawn to our church tend to ask many questions about their faith. We are a people with diverse lifestyles and opinions. What we have in common is a desire to reach a deeper understanding of our relationship with God and what it means to be a person of faith in the 21st century.

* A GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE. The Episcopal Church is part of the worldwide Anglican Communion. Our congregation includes a number of people from other countries who have found our church an inviting place to worship. We try to reach out to international students, immigrants and refugees.

* ARTISTIC EXPRESSION. St. Matthew's is a congregation that very much values and encourages artistic expression. Many of our members are gifted artists, musicians, writers and actors. Our parish hall, The "Undercroft Gallery" has a full roster of individual and community art shows throughout the year. The music program is highly acclaimed, including a strong parish choir, an "angel choir" for young children and accomplished musicians for Taizé services.
