MCAC, a private, nonprofit 501(c) 3 was founded in 1971 and is the official Arts Agency of Monmouth County, as designated by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders. MCAC fulfills its mission by fostering community among artists, arts organizations and audiences; facilitating partnerships which encourage artistic endeavors among arts organizations, local government, nonprofits, businesses and schools; supporting arts education for teens; providing technical assistance to cultural organizations; and playing a leadership role in arts planning for regional economic redevelopment efforts.

MCAC provides resources to support and inspire the arts, including approximately $130,000 in re-grants each year to organizations for local arts programs, teen arts education programs including the Teen Arts Connection and the annual Teen Arts Festival, programs and services for artists such as the Juried Art Show & Sale and leadership to ensure that the arts are incorporated in redevelopment efforts throughout the county. MCAC seeks partnerships with arts organizations to bring unique art programming to the county, such as the Newark Black Film Festival. MCAC also provides valuable marketing support for local arts organizations by publicizing events through e-blasts and MCAC’s website and our new magazine, ArtZine.
