DHCDC is a nonprofit preschool and child care center that serves a vital role in Hampton Roads!
By offering the Peninsula's only sliding-scale tuition rate---where families pay based on income and need---we make quality childcare affordable. We're also are NAEYC accredited, placiing us in the top 7% of child care nationwide.
This means we can make top-quality child care affordable for ALL families, so parents can work or go to school. Many of our children come from at-risk populations or have special needs. But we're not limited only to children with risk factors---we welcome and serve children from all income levels and backgrounds. It's a wonderful, diverse mix that benefits everyone.
Our program serves nearly 200 children, ages 6 weeks to 5 years. We believe that children learn through play, and our curriculums have a high success rate. DHCDC's mission is "to nurture young children by providing affordable, quality preschool programs that develop the 'whole child' and foster school readiness."
