Kids’ Corps, Inc. is a 501 c-3 providing comprehensive child development services for economically at risk children birth to five years old who live in Anchorage, Alaska. Our Head Start and Early Head Start programs prepare children for school success and promote family well-being.
The Head Start and Early Head Start programs offered at Kids’ Corps feature: -A “two generation” approach to alleviating poverty that offers high quality early education to children and supports family self-sufficiency and resilience. -Professional teachers who use content-rich curriculum to engage children in learning that addresses all their developmental needs. -Screenings and services that identify and address developmental, health and dental needs early so children enter school ready to learn. -High levels of family engagement and parent involvement. -Inclusive and diverse classrooms.
Kids’ Corps 2016 Snap Shot: -396 children enrolled last year -96% of enrolled families qualify as low income -23% of enrolled families have experienced homelessness at some time during the past year -16% of enrolled children have a diagnosed disability -Enrolled children enjoyed significant, measurable gains in the areas of language, literacy, cognitive and social development -78 full time employees; nearly one third were parents of children enrolled in the program
