We want to provide you with an experience that is enjoyable and authentic. We do not offer entertainment farming. What we do offer is an opportunity to enjoy the beauty, harmony and relaxed atmosphere of our natural setting. We are located on the beautiful and picturesque terminal glacial moraine where the ice sheet stopped its advance and the boulders were deposited.
We are easy to find at the south end of Fish Hatchery Road, but far enough away from any main thoroughfare so that the sights and sounds of wildlife among rolling hills, prairies and woodlands replace the sights and sounds of suburbia. It is not unusual to see deer, wild turkey, pheasant, rabbit, squirrel, fox, raccoon and other wildlife while visiting our farm.
We strive to provide our customers a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where they can enjoy a personal experience in a natural setting. We want to make your trip to our farm a memorable experience with family, friends and neighbors. We would also like to make your trip to our farm (or your visit to our farmers’ market booth) educational by answering your questions and explaining how we work with nature to provide you with safe, nutritional fruits grown in an environmentally conscientious manner.
We are committed to an integrated cropping system that incorporates all available management tools to maximize production and food safety, while minimizing environmental impact. We have been able to greatly reduce and even eliminate pesticide use on most crops. For example, we have established a 20 acre prairie to attract even more songbirds and small animals. Farm-wide, we have approximately 50 nesting sites which are nearly 100% occupied by Blue birds and Tree Swallows that provide natural insect control.
In an urban environment it is easy to forget we are all a part of, and totally dependent upon, an ecological system that supports all life. If we believe in the future, we must understand how the consequences of our actions will affect that future. As stewards of our environment, we have a responsibility to future generations.
