At MPCS we work to meet the non-medical, unmet emotional and physical needs that cancer brings. We take a personal approach to all that we do and all that we provide. Cancer brings unique challenges to each person and family - we work to ease these challenges and enhance life for those who are newly diagnosed, those who are long-term survivors, and their families.
These services are made available at no charge as a result of the generosity of our community. A large percentage of our donations come from those sponsoring and participating in the GAMES OF ACADIANA, a variety of family oriented games, held annually in August at Lafayette’s Cajundome.
The initial GAMES, held August 25, 2001, were the vision of friends of 8 year old Miles Perret, who succumbed to a brain tumor (glioblastoma) in 1996. Realizing the local needs of cancer patients and their families, Miles’ friends developed the GAMES OF ACADIANA fundraiser; its amazing success enabled Miles Perret Cancer Services to open less than a year after the first GAMES.
The GAMES OF ACADIANA is the Center’s principal source of funding. Additionally, the Center accepts private donations, memorial gifts, and grants and hosts small fundraising events.
