WSVFD is a 100% VOLUNTEER fire department made up of over 35 men and women from all walks of life, whose sole interest is protecting the communities that they serve. We respond to a range of calls from automobile crashes, structure fires, rescue calls, brush fires, and much more. We operate 2 Engine Companies, 1 Rescue Squad, 1 Tanker Company, and 1 6x6 Off Road Utility vehicle. We cover 25 square miles that's made up of residential, commercial, and industrial structures and properties. We have a major railway, the Kanawha River, the Coal River, and two major routes that are heavily travelled traversing our response area. We run approximately 375 fire calls per year.
