Update from Haiti! Today, Dr. Foss, the veterinary team, and the Haitian vets-in-training provided vaccines, dewormer, and basic treatment services to 122 animals! One student from last year's class of Haitian vets, Remy, shared some fresh coconut milk with Dr. Foss and was able to share how much he has been able to do for his community. As the team prepares for their last day of teaching tomorrow, they are hoping many more students, like Remy, will be successful in their vet practices.

Where in the world is Dr. Foss? This week Dr. Foss is in Mirabalais, Haiti with a team of veterinarians. They are down there to teach basic veterinary practices to a group of 20 Haitian students and to provide vet care to parts of rural Haiti. Unlike the freezing temperatures here in the Northwest, Haiti is currently a hot and humid 90 degrees! But before you trade your snow pants for beach shorts, they have had no electricity all week. That hasn't stopped them from doing their job though! So far they have taught their students how to neuter dogs and mules and they had a special case where they saved a goat that had been in labor for 10 days! Pictures soon to come!

I think winter is beautiful but it sure places major stresses on our out door friends. Make sure they all have access to fresh unfrozen water at least 2 times a day, provide extra food and a place to get out of the wind and wet. I use heated water bowls and tank heaters at my place, plus increase food by 50 to 100 percent, depending on temperature. Enjoy the beauty!
