The Beacon Historical Society was formed in 1976, with a mission to discover, procure, preserve and present Beacon’s heritage and history. To that end, the Society’s collections contain more than 2000 items, including books, prints, documents, photographs, postcards, paintings, maps and artifacts--all relating to the history of the City of Beacon, New York. Our headquarters is located at 17 South Avenue in the historic former rectory of St Andrew’s Church. With an active calendar of events with something for all ages, the Society also holds monthly meetings (except January and February) with informative slide presentations on local history, check our Facebook page for current schedule. Our office, exhibition galleries and research library are open to the public on Thursday from 10 am to 12 pm, Saturday from 1 pm to 3 pm, and on Second Saturday from 12 pm - 4 pm or by appointment 845-831-0514 with volunteers on hand to assist anyone doing research about Beacon’s history. YOU can help Support Our Mission by becoming a member, a supporter and a volunteer!
