Horizon State Bank, the oldest bank in DeKalb County, opened July 9, 1883 as “Bank of Osborn”. It was established by Duncan an organizer of the American Royal Association of Kansas City and a notable shorthorn cattle rancher.
The bank has seen growth through its history of 132 years and various owners. The current owners, Roger and Rita Durant, took over the bank operations in 1995. The Bank was renamed Horizon State Bank in 1989. The Missouri Bankers Association has recognized Horizon State Bank as a “MBA Century Bank”.
Horizon State Bank moved its operations from Osborn to Cameron, Missouri in 1989 with the construction of its current facility. With the move it was the first to offer trend setting services such as free checking, extended lobby and dri ve up hours and 24 hour information access. Horizon State Bank continues to offer new banking options with on-line banking, bill pay, mobile banking and real time debit card transactions.
Horizon State Bank continues to strive to be the traditional community bank that it was as its inception, while providing the most up to date banking services for our customers.
