When you first come into our office, you will be personally greeted by our friendly receptionists who will get you checked in and be sure that all of the proper paperwork is filled out. Next, a technician will run several diagnostic tests that provide important baseline information that the doctor will use during your examination. The technician will also obtain a thorough health and medical history, as many conditions affect the health of your eyes.
The doctor will discuss your vision and eye health concerns before checking your prescription. After your vision concerns have been addressed, the health of your eyes will be assessed. A microscope will be used to evaluate the front surface of your eyes, the pressure in your eyes will be checked and then your pupils will be dilated so that the insides of your eyes can be evaluated. When your pupils are dilated, your doctor will be able to check for things such as cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration.
The doctors will complete your exam by discussing their findings, giving you their eye care recommendations and answering any questions that you may have. If you are in need of a new piece of eyewear, our opticians will help to get you into glasses that suit your lifestyle and budget. If contact lenses are your preference, please let our doctors know during the exam. They will fit you in the latest and most comfortable contact lenses available and are happy to see you for checks until the vision, fit and comfort are satisfactory.
