Bay Area Rehabilitation Center

Originally founded in 1948 as a place where children with Cerebral Palsy could receive the special services they required, Bay Area Rehabilitation Center has grown into one of the largest outpatient rehabilitation centers in the greater Houston area. Bay Area Rehabilitation Center provides therapeutic, educational, recreational and support services for disabled or injured persons of all ages and their families. Our mission is to provide treatment and rehabilitation to our clients, to serve the community as a resource on disability awareness and injury prevention.

Clients have access to highly trained, compassionate, and caring therapists, and a variety of current and effective therapy services. In addition, because several of our programs are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), clients have the assurance that we are committed to continually enhancing the quality of our services with our focus on their involvement in the therapy process and their satisfaction.

In 2007 the Baytown Opportunity Center merged with Bay Area Rehabilitation Center to create a new division. The Opportunity Center Program at Bay Area Rehabilitation, otherwise known as the Opportunity Program. Established in 1954, the Opportunity Program works with physically and mentally handicapped adults in a sheltered workshop environment. By providing our clients the opportunity to provide a service while earning an income, the community is served in multiple ways: needed services and products are provided to the community, handicapped individuals are matched up with jobs commensurate with their abilities, and those individuals who are able are provided with the job skills needed to move in to the mainstream job market. The Opportunity Program provides a range of services, including Janitorial, Lawn Care, Sheltered Workshop activities which produce survey stakes and industrial grade pallets, and Work Activities programs which assist with learning social and job skills.
