Freeport Historical Society (FHS), a 501(c)3 non-profit, celebrated its’ 40th year of incorporation in 2009. Interest in and commitment to Freeport history and preservation started much earlier.
Since 1969, Freeporters and area residents have volunteered their time as Trustees and Officers, Committee Leaders and members, and as volunteers. A quick calculation indicates that over three hundred people have contributed to this non-profit since its inception. That number is probably very low. And many have volunteered over a number of years.
