Luther's central campus, situated on nearly 200 acres of limestone bluff country, comprises eight major academic buildings, seven residence halls, one village of townhouses, a state-of-the-art athletic complex, and a popular renovated student union.
The college also owns nearly 800 additional acres of the surrounding rural landscape, featuring native plant species, clear streams, and productive farmland. The Upper Iowa river runs along the northwest edge of campus.
Connected by curving sidewalks, Luther's central campus also has the distinction of reflecting historic landscape design, mapped in the early 1900s by renowned architect Jens Jensen. Incorporating themes of light and shadow, woodlands and prairie, Jensen's plan helps Luther match the grandeur of its natural surroundings.
