The WGA-sponsored Evans Scholars Foundation administers the nation’s largest privately funded college scholarship program. Since 1930, nearly 10,000 deserving young caddies have earned their college degrees through Evans Scholarships. Today, more than 850 caddies attend college each year as Evans Scholars. The Evans Scholarship was founded by golf great Charles “Chick” Evans Jr. (1890-1979).
The WGA has been a leader in American golf since 1899. Today, the WGA annually sponsors the BMW Championship, the Hotel Fitness Championship, the Western Amateur and the Western Junior. Each tournament ranks as one of the premier championships in its class. All proceeds from the BMW Championship benefit the Evans Scholars Foundation.
