Weld Tooling Corporation was founded in 1948 by H. Edward Cable, in partnership with Paul Dagostino, Paul Resko, Roy Eichleay and Al Buehrig under the name of D & R Electric Company, Inc. The first shop at Merriman Street in the South Side of Pittsburgh occupied 1,800 square feet of space. It had been the county stable with a dirt floor. With an armature press, 2 five ton cranes, a variety of hand tools, and 2 other employees, the Partnership started what was the forerunner of the Lincoln Field Service Shops. The business at that time was devoted to repair and rental of welding equipment. Ed Cable was a consultant to the welding industry with respect to mechanization and automation of welding systems. In 1952, the company outgrew its original location and moved to 3001 West Carson Street, which was the location of the Field Service Shop and the general Offices until 2008 when we consolidated and moved all of our operations to Southpointe, PA, a suburb of Canonsburg PA, Washington County.
The Company name was changed to Weld Tooling Corporation in 1956. On April 2, 1957, Herbert E. Cable joined the company as a sales representative. In 1958, Weld Tooling Corporation acquired the original patent rights to the Livesay Multipurpose Machines, which have been developed into BUG-O SYSTEMS.
