Coast Flight Training is the only Platinum Cirrus Standardized Training Center in San Diego and is based at Montgomery Field (KMYF). Our San Diego flight training school and its instructors have undergone rigorous training and have acquired certification to offer Cirrus training. The Cirrus is the number one selling private aircraft in the country for the past 10 years and is equipped with the most advanced safety and technological features of any private aircraft available for flight training.

Most private aircraft schools train in the same way they have for decades, with Cirrus training and Cessna training taught with the same repetitive methods and techniques. This leaves you to think about paying good money for something that hasn’t been updated in years? Through Scenario Based Training (SBT) we will equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to BE a true professional pilot, not just act like one. The edge of SBT over other training techniques and methodologies, is that it puts you in that situation that requires the actual use of the skills that have been taught to you in the classrooms of our San Diego flight school.

Many pilots would normally not venture outside of where they trained for fear of the unknown. With Coast’s SBT, this habit is eliminated by putting the student pilot in certain scenarios of flying to new locations, hence exposing you to different airspace, airports and air traffic control. It’s boring to fly to practice and exercise the same basic maneuvers. We aim to give you a reason to perform those maneuvers efficiently!

One of the biggest differences you’ll find in our San Diego flight school is the experience and depth of our staff. We have not only numerous CFIs on hand to mentor and guide your training, we have a seasoned airline pilot and training captain as our Chief Pilot who’s also a Master CFI (a delegation given to very few CFIs) and an owner whose passion and love for aviation, along with his mounds of stories will always make your California flight training an enjoyable one. Who doesn’t love a city whose average temperature is 71 degrees and sunny. San Diego is a prime and beautiful place to fly and it offers a variety of airspace and destinations close by. When we do have clouds, it is a stable atmosphere to fly, unlike many other parts of the country where FR conditions can be dangerous. The best part is, after a long day of training, you can go to the beach and relax!
